the Birds and Wildlife of Uganda

Ann Arbor, you're invited!

When: Wednesday, September 21 | 7:30pm EST
WhereMatthaei Botanical Gardens,1800 N. Dixboro Road, Ann Arbor MI  48105

Many naturalists claim that Uganda and Rwanda offer experiences that are richer and more diverse than the great wildlife safari destinations of Tanzania, Kenya, and Botswana. Mountain Gorillas are the featured species of these countries, but it's also a heaven for birders, with over 800 species waiting to be found.

Join Paul Tamwenya, our lead Uganda and Rwanda guide, on September 21 for a program on the spectacular birds and wildlife of Uganda. He is a trainer for future Ugandan naturalists and guides, has seen all 800 bird species his country offers, and has been a trusted guide for Journeys International for many years. His exceptionally keen vision and years of experience are a definite asset to any wildlife safari.

Bonus Event: Birds of a Feather

When: Friday, September 23 | 5:30pm EST

Paul also founded  a small non-profit, Birds of a Feather, that seeks to connect the greater birding community with budding naturalists in his poverty stricken village of Nangaiza. Paul feels that birding and nature tourism have lifted him out of the poverty he was born into, and he wishes to mentor and instill an ethic of conservation and ecotourism in the youth of his country.

On September 23, Journeys alumni who have traveled with Paul are hosting a fund- and friendraiser at their  home. This is an opportunity to hear more about the Birds of a Feather programs. If you're interested in attending, fill out the form on the right and we'll be in touch with more event details.

While not required, you are encouraged to bring your checkbook to to both events to make a tax-deductible donation to Birds of a Feather (through the Earth Preservation Fund)....no amount is too small!
